As of 9 April 2025, the updated version of the Community Coaching Essential Skills (CCES) course became available to learners. The new course structure will see the one CCES course split out into 7 modules. The new structure will allow coaches to go in and complete the stand-alone modules, instead of having to complete the whole course.

About the course:
The CCES course is designed to assist new, returning or current coaches to create positive, safe and inclusive environments for participants to learn, play, compete and thrive in sport.
The course is made up of 7 modules that guide coaches on how to perform their role with a modern approach. You will receive an award for completing each module and a certificate for completing the whole course.
How to find this course:
The free CCES course is available to learners in the Australian Sports Commission Learning Centre.
Estimated time to complete:
Approximately 20-30 mins per module or around 2.5 hours for the full course.

Q. I completed in full the previous Community Coaching Essential Skills course, do I need to complete the new Community Coaching Essential Skills course?
A. The new CCES course has the same content as the previous CCES course. If you have previously completed the old CCES course, you will not be expected to complete the new course.
Q. I only partially completed the previous Community Coaching Essential Skills course, will I still receive a course completion for the modules I have completed?
A. If you did not complete the entire CCES course by April 2025, but you completed one or more topics past Module 1: Who You Coach quiz, you will receive a completion for the respective module completed but not a course completion certificate. You will still need to complete all modules to receive a course completion certificate. You can find what modules you still need to complete for the course under your Record of Learning.
If you did not complete past Module 1: Who you coach, you will be required to start the course again should you choose to.
Q. Will I still be able to access my Community Coaching Essential Skills certificate?
A. Yes, you will still be able to download your certificate if you have completed the previous CCES course in the Australian Sport Learning Centre.
If you completed the previous CCES course, you will now find in your Record of Learning, your completion in the new CCES course. Your Record of Learning is accessible via your dashboard, either in the screen header (desktop) or in the hamburger menu (mobile). Q. Where do I go to complete the safeguarding module?
The safeguarding module has been removed from the Community Coaching Essential Skills course. You are now recommended to complete the safeguarding module through the Sport Integrity Australia Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction course.
